Bullet in My Eye

I was 3 years old that time. A small kid who don’t know anything about this cruel and unpredictable world. Who knows, God already show His love to me when I was 3. I didn’t come from a very wealthy family but, at least that time, I can have everything I need. I can say, I’m so lucky or God just really love me.

I remember it a bit but, I can’t recall the whole situation. I was playing with my neighbors’ kids. There are four or five children if I’m not mistaken. I remember there were two girls, siblings and there was a boy there. We’re playing outside then suddenly, the girls’ father came home. He just bought an air soft gun. You know, air soft gun use bb bullets in 5 mm or 3. This one use 5mm. Clearly, it’s not for clay shot. Clay shot use real shotgun/rifle bullet.

So, the old man lend us that gun. Of course, he took all the bullet out but, accidentally left one inside. You can guess what happened next, right? Yeah, the little boy took it first and point the gun at me. I was ok back there, thinking that it’s safe. What kind of adult lend a gun with a bullet?

I feel weird. Everything went dark. I can’t see anything. Then suddenly, I feel a pain striking my left eye. It hurt so bad. I cried but, I feel even more painful. Usually when kid cried, they thought the pain will go away. And that’s what I’m trying to do but, it got worse. I feel my face wet, too wet for my tears. Then, I touch my face. “WHAT THE FUCK?!” Maybe that’s what I was thinking that time. My hand was red, yes, it’s the blood from my left eye. He really shot me in my eye.

Mom was screaming and crying. Everyone cried. It’s chaos. Everyone was panic. I don’t if my dad were there or not but, I know my mom was there and my grandma if I’m not mistaken. They quickly took me to a hospital. I couldn’t open my eyes. I can’t see a thing. I was shocked.

Doctor can’t see it because I didn’t want to open my eyes. It’s too painful for a 3 years old kid. He tried to open my eye with a cold steel. It was painful. He force it to my left eye and guess what, he damaged my eye and make it worse. Then, he said that I won’t be able to see if they didn’t do anything in three days.

I remember mom prayed some prayer. My auntie did the same. Grandma went to her temple and prayed there. I don’t know how they feel that day but, must be bad.

Five days later, they gathered enough money to bring me to Singapore. Yeah, that’s why I’ve been to Singapore for so many times. I do check up there. So, back to the story, I got my first surgery there. I forgot the doctor’s name but, I know mom still got it. He’s a very kind doctor. Last time I visit him, he’s old, really old but, he still work as a doctor. He asked me to open my eyes, holding a toy in his hand, distracting my attention and so, he manage to check my wounded eye.

That day, when I have to face the surgery, everyone prayed for me. Grandma, mom, aunties, everyone in the family. They found no bullet in my eye. They just found out there’s a lot of blood in my eye and they need to remove it before it draws bacteria then it’s going to be an infection. So, they suck the blood off from my left eye.

Day pass day, I’m healed. Even with my left eye closed by a white bandage, I can still run my activity, smile, hug my parents, play as a normal 3 years old child. Several days later, I left the hospital, able to see the world once more. I regain my sight perfectly. No scars in my eye, no scars in my heart.

I got more experience, more and more. Until now, God reminds me of how kind He is, how great He is, how He will always be there for me, listening to what I’m about to say. I may not be the best kid in my level but, He still love me like I’m the only child He had. He’s always there for me. You may not believe it, how great God is, but, you know, everyone have their own story with God, they just don’t realize it yet. Recall some memories, tell me how’s your story…?
